“You know, it was a hard time in life. I was born in the back of a McDonalds. You know but big tings, you know? We rise up, we learn from what we been through, we go through it, we make it, and sometimes we gotta go through it again, you know? Big, big tings man.”

“I’m never scared. I’m never lackin’. Never, we only fear one man.”

“I said big tings. World man tings. Never scared.”

“You can’t be scared. You can’t be scared and be successful. You always have to take the leap.”

{They chant “take the risk” until the bus pulls up.}

“Sometimes I see the ghosts of my opps. They always push me down. They’re always like “oh you can’t do this, oh you can’t do that”. No, you let them talk. Let them talk so you can do it in their face while they’re watching. Big tings.”

“Favorite food? That’s a good one Seán, I’ll tell you why. I been to New York. Bacon egg and cheese? Ooh, it’s a classic. Classic I tell you. Bacon egg and cheese? Big ting, big ting man. All the man in the fandem? Oh we be snackin on a bacon egg and cheese.”

“Something sad happens? I go to the brodies. I spend time with them.”

“I’m definitely superstitious but I’m not too serious about it. So I’ll notice when people split poles but I don’t say anything.”

“I’m not sure, there’s lots of interesting people all over.”
“There’s a taco place in Burien. They have the best tacos, the first time I had it, so a couple years ago… I’ve tried to [recreate it] but it’s not the same. If I were to rate it probably a 6 out of 10.”

“I do boxing so sometimes I get like… I get down on the floor, sometimes I hit the canvas. Let’s just say I get knocked out.”

“It was when I was just trying out a new gym, it wasn’t the gym I usually go to, and like guys who were a lot better than me, and then I was sparing and then they weren’t going that easy. But that happened a while ago, that was a year ago I think. I was thinking just get up and keep fighting cause that’s kind of like the whole deal with when you get knocked down in boxing. But I think it was kind of scary cause it was the first time that like, never in my life was I that unconscious before nothing like that.

He was really good, a lot better than me I don’t think he was going that easy, I wish he did. But it did teach me a lot so I respect him. I just respect other boxers I guess now. And I see like why he may have wanted to you know, try to knock me out or something to impress other people.”

“Definitely social insecurity was a problem around that time. During the pandemic…”

“Definitely making friends is easier here. I got picked on a lot, and they were mean to me. So it’s been a different experience this year. It’s kind of like, oh, I can bounce back”

“I was on the field and we heard a bunch of shots and we ran. I was pretty confused but I thought it was pretty fun in the end cause no one really got hurt and we got to hang out in our safe room.”

“It was in like the uhh, one of the rehearsal… {gestures at Quincy Jones}”
