Jasmine. 4. t-
Jasmine Cruikshank, more commonly known as Jasmine.4.t, is a transgender indie pop artist who self-released her debut EP “Worn Through” in 2019. She opened for popular singer Lucy Dacus three separate times, and was introduced to the rest of Dacus’ band, Boy Genius. The moment Phoebe Bridgers heard some of her music, she was on the phone with her manager trying to get Cruikshank signed onto her record label, Saddest Factory Records. She became the first British person to get signed onto that label. Her debut album speaks about her experiences transitioning and utilizes a vast array of genres to tell her story.
Zanele Muholi-
For over two decades Zanele Muholi has used photography, film, and sculpting as a means of activism and representation for Black LGBTQ+ people. They focus on spreading awareness, challenging gender norms, honoring the queer experience, and emphasizing the need for accurate and diverse representation. By using everyday objects, such as rubber gloves and clothes pins, they make complex and nuanced comments on everyday life and the political climate in South Africa, as well as the rest of the world. In one of their collections, Faces and Phases, they showcased Black lesbians, trans men, and gender nonconforming people fighting against the extreme discrimination LGBTQ+ people face in South Africa on a daily basis. Their art has been displayed across the world, including in London, California, Iceland, Africa, Argentina, and Amsterdam. In 2019, they won the Lucie Foundation Humanitarian Award, as well as the Rees Visionary Award.
Jack Haven-
Jack Haven played Casey in all four seasons of “Atypical,” and they recently played Maddy in “I Saw the TV Glow.” After going to a workshop for transgender actors in 2023, they changed their name to honor their great-great grandfather who wrote “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.” They’ve been involved in activism for years, and have focused especially on the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020.
Luca Guadagnino-
Luca Guadagnino is a director, known for his beautiful visuals, complex characters, and unsettling topics.His most well known works include: “Call Me By Your Name,” “Bones and All,” and “Challengers.” Beyond directing, he has worked with the Italian Fashion house, and founded the company “Frenesy,” which focuses on high fashion communications, print, video, and renowned creative events. He’s drawn most of his inspiration from other Italian directors and filmmakers. Being half Algerian, he strives to be seen as an international figure instead of just an Italien one. After growing up semi isolated in Italy after moving there at a young age, films and movies have always provided a sense of comfort and solace for him.
