The Garfield lockdown NEWS UPDATE
After receiving a report about the possibility of a man walking across the Garfield softball field carrying a gun, Garfield High School immediately issued a school wide lockdown Wednesday afternoon. Seattle Police Department officers from outside of the school responded, searching the lower grass fields and surrounding areas for the alleged suspect. No such suspect was found, and Officer Bennie Radford says the call was likely a prank. He says that although there ended up being no real threat, he was concerned about the slow response from students meandering into the school. “Let’s practice like it’s for real,” says Radford. “We want you in the building–it’s for your safety.
